Among asset classes, domestic equities delivered the strongest overall performance, with a return of 21.67%. International equities recorded a return of -0.11%. The service disclosed returns by asset class.
The domestic stock market (KOSPI) was recorded as having risen 19.89% from the end of the previous year. Global equities (MSCI ACWI ex-Korea, in USD terms) declined. The service explained that geopolitical uncertainty affected the market.
There was a difference compared with major overseas public pension funds. Norway’s GPFG recorded-1.9%, while the Netherlands’ ABP recorded-0.5% returns. The fund also disclosed investment performance by country.
The fund said that gains in domestic stocks and foreign-currency translation gains on overseas assets resulting from the rise in exchange rates were reflected in its returns. It explained that strength in the semiconductor sector lifted the performance of domestic stocks. It added that geopolitical risks, including the war in the Middle East, remain.
The fund disclosed29day’s performance provisionally and announced that, according to its figures, the increase from the end of the previous year was68trillion won. The fund said it plans to continue disclosing quarterly investment results.
