Among foreigners who visited Korea last year, Vietnamese nationals ranked 1for the first time since statistics began, a change that could have a noticeable impact in terms of labor and consumption. During the same period, net foreign inflows fell to around 5.
Domestic financial firms said they view Vietnam as the “next market” beyond brokerage and plan to expand their long-term investment capabilities. Specifically, moves to develop local investment platforms and asset management products have been reported.
The local expansion of manufacturing and logistics companies is also notable. T-Robotics disclosed that it is pursuing the establishment of an entity in Hanoi in 2026 of 7 on 9.
A shift has also emerged in the composition of arrivals. The trend has moved away from being centered on ethnic Chinese compatriots, as in the past, toward Vietnam, where international students and seasonal workers account for a larger share.
This trend is linked to labor supply and demand, the expansion of local consumer markets, and growing demand for financial products. It has been confirmed that disclosures on the establishment of local subsidiaries by related companies and schedules for financial institutions to launch Vietnamese products are being issued one after another.
Investors need to separately assess their exposure through corporate disclosures, arrival statistics, and disclosures on local operating results.
