Doosan’s acquisition of SK Siltron, 2trillion5,000 hundred-million-won financing plan

Doosan Group has effectively finalized its acquisition of SK Siltron. SK Siltron is known as a global 3 semiconductor wafer maker. Doosan Group is preparing the transaction with a view to securing all of SK Siltron’s shares.

Doosan Group is pursuing a deal to also acquire the stake personally held by SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. The deal is scheduled to proceed next week. Within this year, Doosan Group will seek to secure a stake of 100%.

Korea Development Bank is pursuing the arrangement of acquisition financing worth 2trillion5,000 hundred million won for Doosan Group. Acquisition financing is funding borrowed to purchase a company. The money is expected to be used to finance the acquisition of SK Siltron.

The Korea Development Bank’s financial arranging is tied to supporting domestic companies in building a semiconductor supply chain. The deal will see a domestic company secure a key materials company amid intensifying global competition in semiconductors. SK Siltron makes semiconductor wafers.

The deal will mark Doosan Group’s entry into the semiconductor materials sector. SK Group will proceed with the sale of its stake. Including Chairman Chey Tae-won’s personal stake, the deal structure comes down to a 100 percent-stake acquisition.

The key schedule currently known is to pursue a contract next week and complete the stake acquisition within the year. The Korea Development Bank’s 2 trillion-5,000won financial arranging will also proceed alongside the acquisition process. The specific final contract terms will be confirmed when the contract is signed.
