LG Electronics surges on AI and robotics hopes 5 month share price 66.78%

As the KOSPI recovered the 7,800 mark, market attention focused on Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Amid that, LG Electronics posted a steeper share price gain than other large-cap stocks. According to exchange data, LG Electronics' share price rose by 4 to 21 this month, 66.78%.

Over the same period, SK Hynix rose 50.86%, while Samsung Electronics gained 35.83%. This put LG Electronics' gain at a notable level amid a semiconductor-centered trend. Securities firms confirmed the difference using share price comparison indicators.

A securities industry official said the market no longer sees LG Electronics solely as a traditional home appliance company making products such as TVs and refrigerators. The official said investors were beginning to view LG Electronics anew as a company building a physical AI platform that includes AI infrastructure, robotics, automotive electronics and data center cooling.

Brokerages have also continued raising their target prices over the past month. Mirae Asset Securities raised its target price for LG Electronics from the previous 15 ten-thousand-won mark to 19 ten-thousand-won mark. Other brokerages also adjusted their target prices.

Signs of a reassessment of LG Electronics’ business portfolio are emerging in the market. Greater price volatility has also been observed as trading volume and target-price changes have coincided. The article does not include any separate company disclosure or additional announcement.
