Korea Investment & Securities 18announced the results of an analysis of the regular investment activity of users of its Stock Gathering service. Users bought many large-cap semiconductor stocks in the domestic market. In overseas stocks, funds flowed into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking U.S. indices.
Stock Gathering is a service that automatically purchases domestic and overseas stocks and exchange-traded funds at an amount and frequency chosen by the customer. Rather than investing a large sum at once, customers buy in installments. Korea Investment & Securities said demand from investors seeking to buy promising stocks in installments continues to grow.
SK hynix had the largest share of purchase value among domestic stocks. Its share was 24%. Samsung Electronics followed, at 22.8%.
Samsung Electronics preferred shares also ranked among the leaders. The share of purchases accounted for by Samsung Electronics preferred shares was 3.9% . When Samsung Electronics common and preferred shares are combined with SK hynix, large-cap semiconductor stocks made up more than half of total investment.
Among overseas stocks, investors showed a stronger preference for U.S. index exchange-traded funds than for individual stocks. Users’ regular purchases of fixed amounts were split between domestic semiconductor stocks and U.S. index products. Korea Investment & Securities presented this trend as a pattern of regular, installment-style investing among users of its stock-accumulation service.
This tally analyzes users of the recently launched stock-accumulation service. The company described the service as allowing users to invest automatically in domestic and overseas stocks and exchange-traded funds at their chosen amounts and intervals. Domestic large-cap semiconductor stocks and U.S. index exchange-traded funds were identified as users’ main choices.
