Gwangju military airport area 364.19㎢ designated as a land transaction permit zone
The government has designated the Gwangju military airport site, planned as a semiconductor industrial complex in the Honam region, and nearby 364.19㎢ as a land transaction permit zone. Transactions are permitted only when actual residence for housing or genuine business purposes for commercial and industrial properties are confirmed.
The government has designated the Gwangju military airport site, planned as an advanced national semiconductor industrial complex in the Honam region, and the surrounding 364.19㎢ as a land transaction permit zone. The measure restricts land transactions mainly in areas slated for large-scale development.
The designation is effective from 7 month 14 through 2028 year 7 month 13.
The designated area includes 124.98㎢ in Gwangsan-gu and 22.66㎢ in Dong-gu.
Seo-gu 26.94㎢ and Nam-gu 44.76㎢ are also included in the designated area.
Buk-gu 28.72㎢ and Naju 97.93㎢ are included.
Jangseong County 5.43㎢ and Hwasun County 12.77㎢ are also covered.
In land transaction permit zones, transactions involving land above a certain size require approval from the competent mayor, county governor, or district mayor. Residential use must be for actual residence, while commercial and industrial use must be recognized as serving an actual business purpose for the transaction to be permitted.
This designation is a follow-up measure to the government’s announcement on 6 of a plan to create a semiconductor industrial complex in the Honam region, and follows the confirmation of the site for a production complex in which Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will invest a total of 800 trillion won.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City said they would closely monitor the designated areas and respond strictly in cooperation with relevant agencies if transactions suspected of violating the law are identified.
