KB Kookmin Bank announced on 2026 year, 7 month 8 that, from 7 month 10 it will limit the maximum nationwide home-purchase mortgage loan amount to 3 hundred million won. This measure will remain in effect until further notice. The bank said the policy is intended to proactively manage household loans.
Previously, under government policy, when home prices in the Seoul metropolitan area and regulated areas were 15 hundred million won or less, loans of up to 6 hundred million won were sometimes permitted. KB's announcement stated that certain loan products, including group loans and refinancing loans, are excluded from this lending-limit regulation.

Some customers said they would need to revise their financing plans because the previously expected 6hundred-million-won limit was reduced. The announcement did not mention measures taken by other banks.
KB Kookmin Bank is known as a bank with a large volume of mortgage lending. The bank said it would issue a separate notice to customers if there is any further guidance.
