In its latest report, Bank of America forecast that the server CPU market will grow to more than 2030year 1,700hundred million dollars (258trillion won), and analyzed that the advent of the AI agent era will significantly increase demand for server CPUs.

The report presented the market size in 2025year as 350hundred million dollars (53trillion won).

The report also stated that this figure was higher than BofA's previous forecast of 1,250hundred million dollars (190trillion won).

The report said AI agents autonomously perform multistep tasks such as searching emails, adding calendar events, and executing code.

Vivek Arya, BofA’s semiconductor analyst, said the computing required by agents is better suited to CPUs than GPUs because sequential processing and data input/output performance are important.

A joint study by Intel and Georgia Tech found that up to 88% of the total latency when running AI agents resulted from bottlenecks occurring in CPUs, the report said.

The report forecast that the benefits of the AI semiconductor market, which had previously been monopolized by NVIDIA’s GPUs, would diversify among Intel, AMD, and Arm-based design companies.

The report also said it had raised Intel’s investment rating by two levels, from “Underperform” to “Buy.”
